SOON TO COME: NEW CD - - Song of the Lark "LIVE" at the Acoustic Cafe!
“Song of the Lark”, a New Hampshire based flute/guitar duo, has released their first CD recording, a mosaic of world music and music to soothe the soul. The CD, also entitled, “Song of the Lark”, features original compositions by award-winning international singer-songwriter, Rahel, and improvisations composed by flutist Sue Hurwitz and Rahel together. The songs, including: Desert Journey, Brazil, Paris, Sinai Serenade, Mediterranean Breeze, Dawn, Flowers, Sweet Dreamer, See You Again and Lullabye, take the listener on an effortless musical journey around the world. Soothing melodies performed by Sue on the flute are supported by Rahel’s unique finger style and chordal guitar accompaniment.
“Song of the Lark’s” beautiful music creates a soothing environment for a peaceful world!
BACKGROUND:
You might find it interesting to know a bit of background about the music.
Most of the melodies came to Rahel many years ago. She was living in Israel (22 years!), which is a melting pot of world culture, and met and interacted with musicians from all over the world. For a musician to be able to experience world cultures all in one place feels like a miracle! Rahel was able to experience traditional styles and genres first hand and to witness an evolution and creation of new original and innovative world music through the fusing of cultures in Israel, and through her travels in Canada and Europe. The songs on this CD reflect Rahel's personal creative musical evolution as a result.
Rahel has composed a wealth of compositions and songs, some of which are available on CD's, and much of which has remained stored away on old cassettes. It seems that the songs on this current release, "SONG OF THE LARK", were waiting for the "right" musician to come along. That musician turned out to be Sue!
Sue and Rahel share many of the same interests. In addition to a love of world music they both enjoy improvising and building musically on what they know to create something new. Rahel and Sue are also experienced educators and have co-founded "MugaLive!", a music/movement/yoga program for children aged from babies all the way up to adults; and are founding members of “SunflowerFusion", a world music trio, and "Acoustic Breezes", a jam band hosting an eclectic mix of talented musicians.
This "Song of the Lark" CD was inspired ultimately by the children who enjoy the “MugaLive” classes where Sue and Rahel play their music for the children and staff for a relaxing “time out” at the end of the activity. This is always an opportunity for musical improvisation; many new melodies are born in these moments. The inspiration and motivation to record a CD came out of working with the children! As healing musicians, Sue and Rahel understood the importance of music in our lives and realized that a recording of their beautiful music would be able to reach even more people who could benefit from it.
“Song of the Lark” was created lovingly by a team of people who believe in the unique power and positive influence of music in our efforts to build a more peaceful world. It is produced by Chris DelRossi and Rahel, recorded and engineered by Chris DelRossi at "The Cat's Room" in MA, and mastered by Jim McClure of "Betsy's Folly Studios" in Lyndeboro, NH.
“Song of the Lark” is appropriate for all ages, faiths and colors!
Sue and Rahel are looking for Patrons of the Arts who are interested in hosting a SONG OF THE LARK concert in their home and/or venue. Please contact us if this is you!
